My Arun is looking for a love interest.
It is the early 1950s and Derina is seven years old. Her father didn't survive the Global Wizarding War having opposed Grindelwald and his Acolytes. Her mother, a hardworking witch is struggling to make ends meet. It's a tough childhood and Derina hates being poor. She's an ambitious girl and wants beautiful dresses, toys and chocolates. Fate, however, is none too kind to Derina. She is happiest spending time with her great-grandmother, who is approaching her 135th birthday and is always there for her.
Great-grandma has the best stories and claims that she once had a couple of visions that got taken quite seriously by the Department of Mysteries. She can see what the future holds. She spins Derina stories of love and finding a better life and Derina holds onto them with both hands.
A few year later, Derina's life is turned upside down when she loses her great-grandma. In her will, great-grandma has left Derina a beautiful necklace with a pretty teardrop charm. It's been her most prized possession. She's known the pendant's story since childhood, it will glow brightly when she meets the man she will fall in love with.
She attends Hogwarts, the same as her parents did and wears the necklace every day, but not once does it light up. As she grows older, she realises that great-grandma was probably just telling her stories to give her hope.
Years later though, when she least expects it, the pendant lights up, but it's not around anyone she'd have ever considered or would have even thought about, let alone hoped for. He's older, quiet and at least in Derina's opinion not all that likeable on first impression. And yet, she's too curious to let it go. Maybe, just to get to know him a little...
